There’s dominance and perhaps violence there which fit with MDSA I think. The other part that stands out to me is that yes, Nina focuses on her mother’s face in the audience, who is crying and indeed looks proud. This reinforces the significance of their dynamic in Nina’s mental state and actions. It also didn’t make sense to me that her mother would actually be proud, as she was fighting to keep Nina from performing. So, I wonder if that was imagined by Nina.

Nina returns to her room and shuts the door, panicking as to what to do about Lilly. Then there’s a knock at the door – and it’s Lilly. In 2010 Black Swan, and Oscar-winning film, brought the dark and controversial topic of mental illness to the nation's attention. Black Swan is a haunting film about a young ballerina, Nina--played by Natalie Portman--who is attempting to deal with increasing levels of stress and the pressure to perform. A threadbare, singed rug of indeterminate colour covers the floor in front of the taproom’s fireplace. Here, three dogs—the innkeeper’s beloved pets—sprawl.

Development and filming

Black Swan had a limited release in select cities in North America on December 3, 2010, in 18 theaters and was a surprise box office success. The film took in a total of $415,822 on its opening day, averaging $23,101 per theater. By the end of its opening weekend it grossed $1,443,809—$80,212 per theater. The per location average was the second highest for the opening weekend of 2010 behind The King's Speech.

Stunned and confused, Nina goes to look at the posting. As she approaches, several girls gather around her shouting congratulations at her. Overjoyed, and nauseous, she runs to the bathroom where she calls her mother from one of the stalls and tells her that she won the part. When she leaves the stall she sees the word "whore" written on the mirror in red lipstick and frantically struggles to wipe it off.

Fighting for the role of Swan Queen

But his role in the movie is someone Nina needs to impress and win over. When the movie is about her performance in a role, you need someone to grade her performance and give her hurdles to overcome and drive the story forward. It’s no different than the power dynamic in Whiplash, if you’ve seen Whiplash. The signs of extreme mental illness, like with everything else in this movie, build up over time. We know Nina’s mother is overbearing and representative of an over-involved, over-protective type of never-had-success dancers who obsess over their daughter’s careers.

Most of the proof within the film means that Nina did die after. Portman's role as Nina the ballerina in Black Swan is her most mature to date, though not precisely her most grownup. (That would likely be her impressively modulated performance as a quasi-widow ....

She runs to the bathroom and vomits into the toilet. She then calls down the hall for her mother, walking toward her mother's art studio, hearing voices coming from the studio. As she peers in, she imagines her mother's paintings moving and talking to her. She runs in and starts tearing everything down, and imagines Beth coming towards her with a bloody face, until her mother walks in and, astonished, asks Nina what she's doing. Nina runs past her mother to her bedroom, with Erica close behind. As she tries to reach Nina, Nina slams the door on her hand, breaking it.

As the ending approached I was to eager I guess to find out what was happening but found I was left disappointed. I think the casting of this movie couldn’t have been better. The acting itself was so beautifully done. I too like the idea that none of these people in Nina’s life are real, but only figments of her imagination as she very quickly falls far from reality.

The space is beautiful and located right on the river. Our guests loved the opportunity to have a drink on the patio overlooking the river. Everyone that we worked with at the Black Swan was extremely helpful and m... A committed dancer struggles to maintain her sanity after winning the lead role in a production of Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake". Collect the Garland Ball 2/3 from the stairs, then use the Lever in the slot on the wall to make the dancers go away.

Nina’s disordered relationship with her roommate mother Erica, played by Barbara Hershey, sets the stage for Nina’s psychological breakdown. Erica is narcissistic, spending all .... My question is Does Nina really die at the end of the movie?
